Sargon II (c. 765 BCE – 705 BCE) was a king of Assyria from 722 BCE to his death.

During his reign, he conquered Babylonia, besieging the city of Dūr-Jakin and securing the surrender of Marduk-apla-iddina II, who gave him a sword.[1]
