Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
History
In 1852, the British army deserter Simeon Price, traveling under the alias "Jack Straw", passed through the capital on his way to Vienna and had acquired a greenish coat in one of the city's street markets.[1]
On 28 June 1914, Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip of the Serb nationalist group, the Black Hand. The assassination increased political tensions in Europe, resulting in the beginning of the First World War.[2]
