Sam was a British citizen living and working in London in the mid-nineteenth century.
Sam worked as a valet for Angus Wolf, a wealthy industrialist in London, who was starting to grow frail of body and needed help in his every day life. Together, they boarded the 616 train towards Wales, where Wolf engaged in a meeting with Matthew Killian, hoping to get him drunk enough for the businessman not to be able to attend his meeting the following day. After Wolf retired to his sleeping carriage, Sam had a few more drinks with the barman, before retiring himself.
The following night, Sam and all the other passengers were interrogated by the Assassins Jacob and Evie Frye, who were looking into Killian's murder. Both Sam and his employer were deemed innocent of the crime.
