The Salaminia was an Athenian heavy trireme which sailed the Aegean Sea during the 5th century BCE.
History
Named after the Isle of Salamis and its main settlement, the Salaminia was a mighty ship that Athens sent when Spartan ships needed sinking.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, the Salaminia was sought out and destroyed, along with its companions, by the Adrestia commanded by the Spartan misthios Kassandra. In the aftermath, Kassandra claimed the finery of the Salaminia for her own.[1]
Behind the scenes
Historically, the Salaminia was used as a messenger ship. In Assassin's Creed: Odyssey it was described as a vessel of destruction, "its sheer force (bisecting) any target before the opposing crew had time to react."
