Saint-Denis is a commune in norther Paris, France. It was briefly renamed Franciade during the French Revolution, and retained this name up until 1800. During the French Revolution, Franciade was a small, walled commune just north of Paris. It was notable for being the final resting place for a number of France's royalty, including Marie de' Medici.
History
During the Revolution, the commune's extensive catacombs were ransacked by raiders, led by Philippe Rose, under to command of Commandant Napoleon Bonaparte. Bonaparte sought access to a fabled Temple built beneath the Basilica of Saint-Denis, in order to gain possession of the artefact within.
The Assassin Arno Dorian travelled to Franciade to ensure the artefact - an Apple of Eden - did not fall into Bonaparte's hands.
