Rats in Egypt

The rat (Rattus) is a species of rodents. Rats are generally thought of as vermin, spreading diseases and often turning into a plague.

During the 1st century BCE, many rats scowered Egypt for food and locations for nests. A lot of rats were encountered in Alexandria and the surrounding villages, walking freely through streets.[1]

During the French and Indian and American Revolutionary Wars rats often walked around in Boston and New York City, sometimes squished by people stepping on them.[2]
