The Ptolemaic Dynasty was the last dynasty of Ancient Egyptian history. After the death of Cleopatra in 31 BCE, Egypt became a Roman province known as ''Aegyptus'' in 30 BCE. The Ptolemiac Kingdom was started by Ptolemy I Soter of Macedon when he seized Egypt for himself and for his family following the death of Alexander the Great.
