Project Siren was a Templar plan to extract more information out of Subject 17, Desmond Miles.
History
As Abstergo Industries planned the acquisition of a new Animus subject after Clay Kaczmarek's death, Warren Vidic formulated a plan to gain more information from them, codenamed "Project Siren", with the future subject being identified as Desmond Miles.[1]
Vidic and his assistant, Lucy Stillman, decided that Desmond would have to leave the Abstergo laboratory in the eventuality that the progress through his genetic memories would not be swift enough. From there,[2] Lucy would contact Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane, two Assassins, and take Desmond to their location.[3]
The two of them hoped that Desmond would feel more at ease amongst Assassins, allowing him to access the crucial memories more easily, memories which Abstergo desired. Afterwards, Lucy was then to contact Vidic once the Assassins had located the Apple of Eden.[2]
However, this plan would ultimately fail, as Desmond was unwillingly forced by Juno, a member of the First Civilization, to kill Lucy with his hidden blade as soon as he touched the Apple of Eden inside the Colosseum Vault, despite not knowing her true allegiance.[4]
Trivia
- The name, "Project Siren", could have been derived from the nature of the siren, a creature of Greek mythology. Sirens would lure sailors to their death by singing in a seductive manner, leading their boats to crash on the rocks and the entranced sailors to drown amongst the wreckage.
- With this in mind, the plan emulates this, with Lucy providing Desmond a safe haven amongst the Assassins, only to give away the footage from the Animus and the Apple of Eden to the Templars.
