The Apep Khat was a location in the Duat, an aspect of the Egyptian afterlife inhabited by the spirit of Tutankhamun. Its defining feature was the skeleton of the great serpent Apep.
In 38 BCE, the Hidden One Bayek of Siwa visited traveled to the Apep Khat to gather the Essence of Darkness needed to stop a corrupted soul from entering the afterlife. He found the essence creating plumes of black smoke throughout the boneyard and gathered the remnants, noticing a broken arrow of light amidst Apep's bones.[1]
