Pino III Ordelaffi (1436 – 1480) was an Italian condottiero and lord of Forlì from 1466 until his death.
Biography
Reign as lord
Pino was a member of the Ordelaffi family, who took power over Forlì at the end of the 13th century, when it had become a military dictatorship. The rampant brutality and violence in the city culminated in the reign of Pino.[1] Taking power after murdering his brother, Pino was a great patron of the arts, and also ordered the construction of the Rocca di Ravaldino by Giorgio Marchesi Fiorentino in 1471.[2][3]
He would kill his first wife, his mother, as well as his second wife, before being murdered himself by his third wife. With the Ordelaffi fighting amongst themselves, Girolamo Riario was able to became lord of Forlì.[1]
Legacy
In a 2012 Animus 2.0 Database entry on the Rocca di Ravaldino, written by Shaun Hastings, included its commissioning by Pino III.[2] It was later included in Abstergo Entertainment's Database entry as well in 2014 for the Identity Project.[3]
