Patriots

Patriots, also known as Colonials and Rebels, were the colonists of the Thirteen Colonies of Great Britain in North America who violently rebelled against British control during the American Revolution.

The rebellion, ignited by the Boston Tea Party, gave way for the American Revolutionary War. The Continental Congress, consisting of patriot delegates, created the Continental Army and the colonies were soon at war with the British Army in the colonies. The patriot leadership signed the Declaration of Independence in July 1776.
