Naval convoys were small merchant fleets found in the West Indies and North Atlantic in the 18th century.
Convoys typically consisted of a frigate escorted by two schooners. The shipments were often hijacked by the pirate Edward Kenway,[1] as well as the Assassin-turned-Templar Shay Cormac, in order to obtain money and supplies to later sell or use in the renovation of each's respective ship, or in Shay's case, the repair of landmarks throughout New York, the River Valley and North Atlantic outposts.[2]
Conversely, both the Assassins Connor and Aveline de Grandpré sent out naval convoys as part of their mercantile efforts, through the trade of crafted goods and supplies.<refAssassin's Creed III</ref>[3]
