The highest rank in the brotherhood. Altaïr held the position before being demoted to Novice Asssassin, and does eventually regain it. His descendant, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, also becomes a Master Assassin by the age of 40 and it is speculated if he is the master of all the assassins in Italy.
A Master Assassin is presumed to have reached the peak of his learning as an assassin; the rank garners a large amount of respect from other members within the Order, and indicates a possessing individuals uncommon skill and talent in both the arts of stealth and assassination. A Master Assassin is meant to embody the Creed; they will never harm an innocent, always hide in plain sight, and never compromise the Brotherhood.
Attire
A Master Assassin's attire is quite different from that worn by the other assassin's. It still has a hood with a beak-like design like the others, but it's robes are considerably longer, forming a bird-like "tail" whenever he performs a leap of faith or when he stands on a ledge.
It has a waist belt that is considerably larger than those worn by other assassins because it holds five throwing knives. There is also a container for throwing knives on the right shoulder and on the left boot. A sheath for a sword can be found attached to his waist belt by two straps. The left arm has armor that is bigger than the the right, as it hides the hidden blade. Three assassin's are known to use this attire: Altair, Ezio and Malik.
