Mark Lehner (born 1950) is an American archaeologist.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1991, Lehner and his team, who specialize in the study and survey of the Giza plateau, mapped the Great Sphinx of Giza.[1] The mapping made it possible to see the materials used to construct the Sphinx, analyze the different layers of erosion and figure out the most fragile areas to protect.[2]
