Marie-Jean Hérault de Séchelles

Marie-Jean Hérault de Séchelles (20 September 1759 – 5 April 1794) was a judge and politician of the French Revolution.

He was an ally of the leading Jacobin Georges Danton and an enemy of Maximilien de Robespierre. In 1794, Danton was imprisoned for corruption and treason, and several of his personal letters were found by François Hanriot. One of these was addressed to Hérault, who was also imprisoned for treason. On 5 April, they were guillotined along with Camille Desmoulins and Pierre Philippeaux.
