The Marble Trophy is a marble victory column located near the Marathon Beach in Attika, Greece, featuring the winged statue of Nike holding a wreath, looking out over the Euripos Strait.
Following the battle of Marathon in 490 BCE, the Athenians and their allies erected the trophy to mark their victory and the 6,400 Persian soldiers killed during the battle.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the monument.[2]
