Manuel Palaeologos (1455 - 1512) [citation needed] was an heir to the Byzantine throne before the Byzantine Empire crumbled, and had "mysterious ties" with the Templar Order. After the Byzantine Empire did crumble, he was a wealthy man living in indolent luxury nonetheless, but didn't have any of the political power that could have been his.[1]
After Ezio Auditore da Firenze arrived in Constantinople, he tasked himself with finding out wether Palaeologos' true loyalty laid with the Byzantines or with the Templars.[2]
