The Maniai were a group of spirits in Greek mythology, who personified insanity, madness, and crazed frenzy.
They worked closely with Lyssa, the spirit of rage and frenzy in animals. They were presumed to be daughters of Nyx.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
When Spartan misthios Kassandra travelled to Aletheia's simulation of the Underworld, she came across a cave dedicated to the Maniai. Numerous normal statues of the Maniai could be found outside the cave, and several golden statues could be found inside this cave, in which they shared a sea serpent tail with two dogs.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The statues of a woman with two dogs are reused models of the figurehead featuring Skylla.
