Biography
Early Life
Lucy was a talented student at her university and studied cognitive neuroscience but was rejected in many fields of work because of her strong beliefs in genetic memory. Unbeknown to her, her study was work Abstergo performed to retrieve seemingly lost information in an effort to accomplish goals. According to Lucy, she applied at a variety of locations and tried close to everything to achieve employment, at one point joking to Desmond, "I was this close to waiting tables." [1]
Understandably, she was excited when she got a call from Dr. Vidic offering her a position in the Animus project. She accepted and began working with Dr. Vidic immediately for three years and was responsible for the design of a number of the Animus's functions and interfaces. While Lucy was on fairly cordial and friendly terms with a few other employees at Abstergo, such as Richard, these same individuals later were ordered to have Lucy killed, before Vidic intervened, seeing her as a valuable employee. [1]
Working for Abstergo
Lucy is first seen after she pulled Desmond out of the Animus seeing that his subconscious won't let him view the specific memory Abstergo wants. As Warren explains to Desmond what the Animus does and what genetic memories are, she explains Abstergo's goal without revealing too much information to Desmond. [1]
In between breaks, Lucy asked Desmond questions concerning his past or answers Desmond questions about what little she can reveal about Abstergo's goals, and her own past. Lucy also mentions that he was not the only person Abstergo was detaining and that she too was an unfortunate captive. She then told him a story about how a while back, Abstergo decided to silence her to keep her from speaking about the Animus, but before her assailants could commit her murder, they were ordered to stand down by Dr. Warren Vidic. She claimed that he saved her life that day, and she told Desmond not to judge Dr. Vidic so harshly, as he was under a lot of pressure. [1]
As more time passed on, Lucy leaves the access codes behind in Desmond's wardrobe, so that he finally could leave his room. On the Animus, Desmond found Lucy's pen which was left there for him to find. This gave him access her computer, in order to read her E-mails. Later, Lucy revealed to Desmond that she to is also an Assassin, but she is undercover trying to learn more about Abstergo's plans. [1]
When Desmond finished his time in the Animus, reliving the memories of Altaïr, three Abstergo CEO's, along with Warren, decided to kill Desmond seeing as they retrieved the information they needed from Desmond and no longer needed him. Lucy though, cleverly convinced them to keep Desmond for more testing, as his memories could still reveal more about the locations of the Pieces of Eden, but had to leave him behind in the lab. [1]
Escape to the Hideout
Hours passed as Desmond was still trapped in the lab after he first used his new skill, 'the Eagle Vision'. Suddenly Lucy rushed inside with blood splatters on her shirt from fighting her way through the Abstergo facility. Lucy told Desmond there was no time to waste and that he had to into the Animus to retrieve the memory core data. Lucy wrote the data on a disk and decides it was time to flee. The two successfully fought their way down the facility and made their way to the parking lot, and found themselves confronted by guards. Quickly disposing of the guards Lucy told Desmond to get into the trunk of a car "for [his] own protection". When the ride is over the pair are at the Hideout. Before entering the main room, Lucy told Desmond why she had brought him to the Hideout, she wanted him to train to be an assassin by using the Animus and Bleeding Effect to imprint skills through Ezio. Entering the Animus room, Lucy's fellow assassins, Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane introduced themselves to Desmond and set preparations for the sessions. Later in the day, Lucy evaluated Desmond's progress in between the sessions of Animus 2.0. The night after, Lucy and Desmond talked once more where Desmond promised he would protect her. [2]
After Desmond made his new discovery through Ezio from the vault in Rome, everybody saw that a larger picture was at hand than just the Pieces of Eden, as Ezio's last memory revealed The Ones Who Came Before were responsible for the creation of humans and the Goddess Minerva, one of them, stated that while the war between her kind and the humans was raging, The Ones Who Came Before were not looking to the heavens, and they weren't able to predict or prepare for some sort of disaster that devastated the Earth. She implies that the same disaster is going to devastate the Earth once again, and that Desmond must find and restore the other temples to The Ones Who Came Before (the one they are in being the Vault), before the end of the world. This new discovery would require more investigation through the Animus 2.0. However the alarm went off as Abstergo invaded their hideout. In a rush, Lucy gave Desmond a Hidden Blade similar to Ezio's, and made her way down. When Lucy encountered Warren Vidic again in the warehouse downstairs, he reminded her that he saved her, which was why she came to work for Abstergo in the first place. Vidic burst in anger as he stated his disappointment in her for her 'betrayal'. Both Lucy and Desmond engaged in a fight with the Abstergo guards and managed to defeat them. Vidic was last seen in a truck stating that this was only the beginning and flees. When Desmond starts to go after him Lucy stops him and says they will bring Vidic to justice for what he has done eventually. Lucy and the others left the hideout, despite defeating the guards from Abstergo as their location was revealed and Abstergo wold most likely be back with reinforcements. They headed to hideout in the mountains, while Desmond was preparing to enter the Animus again to continue their search for clues, while Lucy continued to study the notes and tries to figure out what the "Goddess" Minerva meant, and also told Desmond that everything she feared, is starting to happen. [2]
Personality
In contrast with Warren Vidic's personality, Lucy is an optimistic and cheerful woman with a bright personality. She always lends encouraging words and sympathy towards Desmond Miles, though it obviously irritates him sometimes. At times when Warren Vidic attempts to force Desmond to go deeper to the Animus memory, Lucy will stop him from going and plead with Vidic to allow Desmond to rest, showing her caring personality. [1] [3]
During Assassin's Creed II, it is shown that she is cunning and resourceful for keeping Desmond's night-time explorations of the Animus room secret. Though, she seems worried due to the Assassins losing the war, and is shaken when she discovered two teams (eight Assassins) were killed in the field. [2]

Trivia
- She is modelled after and voiced by Kristen Bell.
- The achievement of "Conversationalist" can be unlocked in the 360 version of the first game by talking to Lucy every time Desmond comes out of the Animus. Note that you must talk to her completely, until she says that she's too busy to talk or ask if he's tired. [1] [4]
- Lucy's character model is drastically altered between games. In the first Assassin's Creed, she is dressed in appropriate business/work attire. In Assassin's Creed II, her clothes are much more casual, has a slightly larger figure, and different facial structure: larger eyes and lipstick. Lucy's eyes also go from blue-grey to completely blue. [1] [2]
