The Louvre is a former royal palace in Paris, France, and one of the largest museums in the world.
History
In 1527, the Assassin Giovanni Borgia received permission to consult the Louvre's library with Maria Amiel. They discovered Nicolas Flamel's will leaving his grimoire to his nephew, and used the records to locate his closest living relative.[1]
In 1546, Francis I moved his residence to the Louvre. He hired the architects Pierre Lescot and Jean Goujon, who dismantled various sections of the old Louvre Castle[2] and expanded upon it, making it one of the largest palaces in the world. Further expansions were later made during the reign of Henry II and Louis XIV.[3]
Louis XVI became the last monarch to live in the palace[3] before its eventual conversion into a museum.[2]
