Amulius was the legendary king of the city-state Alba Longa and the great-uncle to the twins Romulus and Remus. According to myth, he was responsible for sentencing the infants to death.[1] After the twins survived and grew to adulthood, he had Remus caught and imprisoned in his residence. Romulus then infiltrated the location to free his brother and assassinated Amulius.[2]
