Lake Ladoga is a lake in northwestern Russia, near Saint Petersburg.
History
By 879, Varangian chieftain of the Rus' Rurik controlled the port at the Ladoga.[1] Azar, the merchant responsible for maintaining the trading routes between the Norse-Gaelic Kingdom of Dublin in Ireland and the 'Rus, kept up with their constant requests for ale and mead.[2]
