Kraken Shield

The Kraken Shield was a heavy shield bearing the image of the monstrous kraken.

During the Viking expansion into Anglo-Saxon England in the 9th century, the shield was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relieved her memories.[1]

Description
This shield has been carved by a superstitious sailor who used to sing the saga of Hafgufa, the sea monster.

Behind the scenes

Despite being named the Kraken Shield, the description mentions the sea monster Hafgufa, which the Örvar-Odds saga claimed lived in the Greenland Sea disguised as an island or pair of large rocks jutting out from the sea instead of appearing as a giant cephalopod.[2]
