Ketil Björnsson, nicknamed Flatnose, was a Norse Viking from Norway who reigned as a King of the Isles from c. 890 until c. 900.[1]

Biography

Ketil had a daughter named Aud who married Olaf the White, who reigned as a King of Dublin alongside Ímair. Ketil later became a grandfather to Olaf's son Thorstein.[2] In the 870s, Ketil wrote a letter to his grandson Thorstein, who spent his time raiding in Ireland around the region of Dublin. In the letter, Ketil noted that if Thorstein had raided the island to his heart's content, he would grant him a few raiders and boats to leave Ireland and head to the Hebrides west of Scotland to loot to his heart's content there as well.[3]
