The name Mohawk was a name their enemies, the Algonkian called them, meaning "man-eaters", although it is unknown if this name was literal, an insult or a figure of speech to show that the Mohawks where fierce in battle. During the American Revolutionary War, the Mohawks sided with the British and helped fight the the Americans. After the war most of the tribes migrated up into Canada. | ||
