Amber is fossilized tree resin of golden hue. Though not a mineral, it is considered a gemstone and has been used to make a variety of decorative objects since antiquity.
History
In the late 9th century, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan visited Ireland and collected amber shards for Deidre.[1]
During the Reconquista, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins used amber in order to create various weapons, accessories, and pieces of armor.[2]
