John Pym (1584 – 1643) was an English politician, who helped establish the foundations of Parliamentary democracy in history.

In 1643, Pym ordered the arrest of Edmund Waller and his co-conspirators in the church of St Magaret for his plot to return king Charles I to England during the king's exile.[1]
