Jean Gilbert (unknown – 1793) was a member of the Templar Order and a gendarme of the French Army in Paris during the French Revolution. Gilbert was responsible for foiling an attempt by Mirabeau's friends to free Queen Marie Antoinette before her execution, and he became well aware of Mirabeau's machinations; the Assassin Arno Dorian was sent to kill Gilbert at his recognition ceremony at the Church of the Madeleine.
