A Difficult Reunion

A Difficult Reunion was a virtual representation of one of Wei Yu's disciple's genetic memories relived through the Animus.

Description

After Chu Huan's death at Yang Duanhe's hands and their own narrow escape, his sworn sibling continued on their way to rendezvous with Yu Ying and the other survivors.

Dialogue

• Wei Yu's disciple: I have to keep going... I have to meet Yingying at the safe house. She's waiting for me... I hope they haven't found the safe house. Yingying, wait for me. I'm almost there.

The youxia spotted a Department of Immortality soldier along their path and stealthily killed him. They arrived at a high point overlooking the safe house, from where they could see Yu Ying captured by more of the purple-uniformed troops.

• Purple Sergeant: Stay still, little girl, or this blade will be the last thing you see.

The youxia thought to themselves.

• Wei Yu's disciple: I should take them out silently, or they might use Yingying as a hostage. One wrong move and it's over.

They performed a Leap of Faith into a haystack below and started killing the soldiers silently.

• Purple Soldier 1: More youxia might arrive.
• Purple Soldier 2: Look out and keep your eyes sharp.
• Purple Soldier 3: I think I heard something.

(If one of the soldiers spotted the youxia.)

• Purple Soldier 4: They're here!

Eventually, the youxia killed all the guards and untied their companion, releasing her.

Now free, Yu Ying asks after Chu Huan. A grim silence falls as you deliver the heavy news, but Yu Ying encourages you not to blame yourself for his death. You pick yourself up, but before you say more, a snapping branch betrays the presence of a purple-clothed soldier who has been spying on you, and he starts to flee.

The youxia broke into pursuit of the soldier who was eavesdropping.

• Wei Yu's disciple: Stop right there!

They chased them down the hill.

• Wei Yu's disciple: You sure can run! But you can't outrun a youxia.
  I'll make him talk when I get my hands on him.

They followed him down into the valley into a campsite, the Yangzhou Stockade, and fell right into an ambush of five other soldiers, one of them a longswordsman.

• Wei Yu's disciple: It's time for payback.

The youxia prevailed.

You finish off all but one of the attacking soldiers, but before you can interrogate him, an arrow pierces him through the chest, silencing him. You trace it back to Nie Jing, who vengefully claims justice for the village. She blames the Grand General for the attack, knowing that only he has the ability to command such a massive force.

Yu Ying caught up with her friend and Nie Jing.

• Wei Yu's disciple: If the Grand General is truly after us, we will need to inform our contacts in Yangzhou City before it's too late. Yu Ying, do you know where we can find our contacts in Yangzhou?
• Yu Ying: Old Fan lives near the Yangzhou winery and Big Chef frequents the market for ingredients.
• Wei Yu's disciple: Alright, leave them to me.
• Yu Ying: Then I'll gather the remaining survivors from around our village.
• Nie Jing: I... I won't be sticking around. I'm laying low in the north till this blows over.
• Wei Yu's disciple: I understand... This is a youxia problem. You shouldn't stick close to us.

Nie Jing prepares to leave, but then turns to face the pair.

• Nie Jing: Words of advice. Meet your contacts at Yangzhou's back gate where the stables are. It's the fastest route out.
• Yu Ying: Thank you, Jingjing. Till we meet again.

As she left, the disciple called out to her.

• Wei Yu's disciple: Jing, you may not be a youxia, but you are still part of our family.

Outcome

Wei Yu's disciple reunited with Yu Ying at her safe house only to find that it had already been attacked by the Department of Immortality. They rescued Yu Ying from captivity but was baited into an ambush by a surviving group of enemies. Although they hoped to leave one soldier alive for interrogation, Nie Jing suddenly appeared and silenced him.
