The Iron Shotel

The Iron Shotel was a shotel forged from iron in the 1st century BCE Egypt.

Description

The curved design of the weapon allowed its wielder to hook and tear away shields from opponents bearing them. During his hunt for the Order of the Ancients, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa commonly found this weapon in the inventories of blacksmiths and on bodies and in chests during his travels throughout Egypt.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Iron Shotel, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, shares the same model as the Devotee of Montu, another weapon in the same game. The same model was recycled as the model of the Kora Sword, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, and its kind. Of interest is that while the weapon is called a shotel, the distinctive axe near the grip shows that it is actually closer to a Mongelima mambele.
