Homer was a Greek author who lived in ancient Greece during the 9th century BCE.

He was the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey, the central works of Greek literature, which had been passed on orally for many centuries.

During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze retrieved a copy of the Iliad which Niccolò Polo had hidden two centuries earlier near the Valens Aqueduct in Constantinople. Ezio also bought a copy of the Odyssey from a book shop in Constantinople.
