While staying in the [[Sanctuary]] of [[Monteriggioni]], [[Desmond Miles]], [[Lucy Stillman]], [[Shaun Hastings]] and [[Rebecca Crane]] exchanged several messages over the network. Lucy would inform them regularly of their schedule and tasks for the week, while the others would e-mail each other about various trivial topics, such as buying food and going out into the town.

After the [[Retrieval of the Apple|events]] in the [[Colosseum Vault]], before Desmond relived the [[The Da Vinci Disappearance (DLC)|restored memories of 1506]], he received an email from an individual known only as [[William Miles|William M]]. The email vaguely informed Desmond that his progress was being monitored by Rebecca, and to tell as few people as possible of their findings.  
Lucy would inform them regularly of their schedule and tasks for the week, while the others would e-mail each other about various trivial topics, such as buying food and going out into the town.


Once Desmond explored all the memories, he received another email from William M., thanking him for his help, and requesting him not to disclose the information with either Shaun or Lucy, as their security depended on it. Finally, he informed Desmond that they would meet soon.
The only outsiders to contact them were [[Erudito]], a mysterious individual who simply informed Desmond of his teammates' e-mail passwords, and an Assassin only identified as [[William Miles|William M]].
 
William contacted Shaun regularly about the status of other Assassin teams, as well as conversed with Lucy about Desmond's condition. He also spoke briefly to Desmond himself, upon the recovery of the [[The Da Vinci Disappearance (DLC)|restored memories of 1506]].

The Hephaestus Email Network was an internet e-mail service used by the Assassin Order.

While staying in the Sanctuary of Monteriggioni, Desmond Miles, Lucy Stillman, Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane exchanged several messages over the network.

Lucy would inform them regularly of their schedule and tasks for the week, while the others would e-mail each other about various trivial topics, such as buying food and going out into the town.

Trivia

  • Accessing Desmond's account will earn the player the "Mailer Daemon" achievement.
  • Erudito sends Desmond the e-mail passwords of his teammates, along with the advice to "stay in the loop."
  • Hephaestus was the Greek god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes.
  • The e-mails sent by William M. during the Da Vinci Disappearance memory sequence only appear during a playthrough of the game, and are accessible after the completion of Sequence 3. If the player has already completed the entire story, an alternative dialogue will occur when the DLC is accessed.
