Alfonso I d'Este (21 July 1476 – 31 October 1534) was the Duke of Ferrara during the early 16th century.

Alfonso's second wife was Lucrezia Borgia, the illegitimate daughter of Pope Alexander VI, Grand Master of the Templar Order.[1] After Alexander's death, the secret Assassin Lodovico Ariosto lived with the Este family as the Ferraran ambassador of the Vatican.[2]

In 2012, he was included in a mnemonic set in Abstergo Industries' Project Legacy.[3]
