The governor's mansion was a large estate owned by Jean-Jacques Blaise d'Abbadie, the French colonial governor of Louisiana, during the eighteenth century. It was located in New Orleans, near the Place d'Armes.
A frequent host to parties, the manse's courtyard was spacious and pleasantly decorated with greenery, as well as a gazebo at the center. However, with fence walls around the premises and guards permanently keeping watch over the three entrances, the estate's grounds were difficult to access without proper invitation.
