The Governor's Mansion was the home of the Spanish Governor Laureano de Torres y Ayala during the early 18th century. The mansion continued to house new Governors after Torres' death until 1791, when a new mansion was constructed.
In July 1715, Torres inducted Julien du Casse, Woodes Rogers and Duncan Walpole, whose identity was assumed by the pirate Edward Kenway, into the Templar Order inside the mansion's belvedere. After the induction, the Templars discussed about eliminating the Master Assassins and finding the Observatory.
Like any other colonial Governor's residencies, the Mansion had its own plantation and a prison. The Sage Bartholomew Roberts was kept in the prison, but he managed to escape.
