Xuānyuán (軒轅) also known by his regnal title Yellow Emperor (黃帝), was a semi-legendary 27th century BCE emperor of China, said to be the very first Emperor, allegedly reigning from 2697 BCE until 2597 BCE, during the time of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors.
Legacy and influence
By the third century BCE, the Yellow Emperor had passed into legend. One such story involved fighting the deity Xingtian.[1]
Record of the Yellow Emperor was also later made by the historian Sima Qian in his Record of the Grand Historian, which detailed all of Chinese history from its inception to the author's own time, it was then published in 91 BCE. A copy of the historical account would also go on to be purchased by Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze during the early 16th century.[2]
