George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon (1866 – 1923), also known as Lord Carnarvon, was an English aristocrat, best known as the financial backer of the British archaeologist Howard Carter's search for and excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings.[1] He also was a member of the British Templars, holding the title of seneschal.[2]

At the vault, Carnarvon and his men were attacked by what seemed to be a living mummy and the creatures it managed to summon by making use of the Ring of Sand.
