Gaspar de la Croix was a Templar agent and master engineer, who lived in Renaissance Rome. While in the Campagna district, Ezio noticed a nearby man who was hiding behind a stone archway. The man explained that Gaspar was trying to kill him, and Ezio decided to assist him. The man said he would sneak up to Gaspar, while Ezio would flank him, however as soon as the man attempted to make his way to cover, Gaspar had shot him, leaving Ezio to give pursuit. Ezio reached Gaspar's cliff-side residence, where he assassinated the engineer.

I found this in Abstergo's database: "Gaspar de la Croix is a master weapons engineer as well as an expert marksman."
