The Fortified Marble Quarry is a quarry located in the middle of Paros Island, Greece.
This was whence the Parian marble, appreciated and valued for its whiteness and transparency, came. Shipped throughout the world to be used to craft fine sculptured and make grand buildings, the Parian economy rested on the marble.[1]
History
In 429 BCE, Euneas, a Spartan admiral serving the oligarch of Naxos, Myrrine, came to Paros to talk peace.
