Fillan McCarthy was a robber who, just like his older sister, Gillian McCarthy, learned the ways of the streets in order to survive. Unlike his sister, Fillan went into thievery while his sister became a seductress. While Gillian manipulated her up the social ladder, he broke ties with her, not wanting to be a burden to her because she had already given so much to him. Now a young man and able to take care of himself, his only loyalty is to find proper food and his estranged sister.

In 2012, his genetic memories were used as an Animi Avatar by Abstergo Industries, in the third stage of training for their recruits in the Animi Training Program, under the title of the Robber.
