One of Ezio's Swords

Ezio's Swords were a pair of Assassin Yataghan Swords attributed to the legendary Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

History

In early 1511, the Mentor of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, wielded an Assassin Yataghan Sword during his journey to Masyaf in search of the Library of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. When he was ambushed and captured by the Byzantine Templars upon arrival at the citadel, all his weapons, including his sword, were confiscated. Nevertheless, he retrieved them after making his escape. With this yataghan, he fought against the Templars as he pursued their captain, Leandros, to Atlas Village where he killed him. Ezio still carried this weapon when he arrived by ship at Constantinople to be greeted by the local Assassin leader, Yusuf Tazim.[1]

In May 1512, after a long year building up the Ottoman Brotherhood in Constantinople, defeating the Byzantine Templar Rite, and acquiring the five keys to Altaïr's Library, Ezio once again carried this blade when he entered the Library and delivered the Capitoline Triad's message to his descendant Desmond Miles.[1]

Centuries later during the Golden Age of Piracy, the Assassin and former pirate Edward Kenway acquired a pair of Assassin Yataghan Swords attributed to Ezio Auditore.[2]

Behind the scenes

Ezio's Swords in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag are based on the Assassin Yataghan Sword that Ezio uses at the start and end of Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

As with the Sword of Altaïr, although Ezio only wields one sword at a time, the sword is duplicated in Black Flag as an adaptation to Edward Kenway's dual-wielding combat style.
