Elizabeth was a 1st century BCE and CE Judean woman who, with her husband Zechariah, was the mother of John the Baptist. She was also later venerated as the saint of pregnant women in most Christian denominations and Islam. While six months pregnant with her son, Elizabeth met with her niece Mary, who was prophesied to later give birth to the promised messiah, Jesus.[1] Their meeting was then recorded in the Gospel of Luke, and a 15th century church was rededicated to them in the form of the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Visitazione in Venice, Italy.[2]
