Donkeys are a domesticated species of equine found worldwide.

Around 49 B.C.E., many donkeys were used as beasts of burden by Egyptian villagers. They were often encountered in Alexandria and surrounding villages, like Kanopos. Unlike horses, donkeys are mainly used for transporting goods, and not for riding.[1]
