David Fanning (c. 1755 – 14 March 1825) was a Colonel in the British Army during the American Revolutionary War.
At some point, Fanning and Hector McNeill captured Thomas Burke, the governor of North Carolina. In response, the Colonial Assassins launched a rescue attempt, known as the Battle of Lindley's Mill, but failed to retrieve Burke.
