The Database was a collection of articles, written and compiled by Shaun Hastings, a member of the Assassin Order, for use within the Animus virtual machine. The database held records detailing assassination targets, allies, contacts, monuments, buildings, cities, documents, Glyphs, Rifts, Assassin's Tombs, Romulus Lairs and other people, places, and events that the Assassins Ezio Auditore and Connor came across during their lifetime, viewed by their descendant Desmond Miles. [1] [2]
Maintenance
Shaun maintained the database, whenever Ezio or Connor saw something of interest, he could flag the database entry into Desmond's view, for the purpose of gaining greater knowledge about the entry's subject. It also helped Desmond reach tombs, Glyphs and other places of interest when he needed to.
After Desmond fell into a coma, and was sent into the Black Room, Shaun could no longer monitor his activities. Instead, the virtual construct of Clay Kaczmarek, began to write Database entries.
