Biography
Inspired by the acts of his ancestors, Lucas wanted to take the fight to the Templars in London, fighting with Darcy and warning his sister to not follow him. Despite his warning, he knew she would follow so he marked intel and left audio files behind for her. Darcy was angry at Lucas at first, but later attempted to apologize.[1] Though she threatened to leave London without him, she ultimately decided to stay until they could both leave.[2]
Darcy would be contacted by the Templar Graham Westerly, who had captured Lucas, and she attempted to negotiate for his release. Westerly declined, seeing more value in the information Lucas held. Darcy eventually located Lucas and Westerly, and allied with DedSec to attempt a rescue, DedSec would handle the hacking and determining Lucas' precise location in Albion Station Kennington while she would handle the infiltration and retrieval.[3]
Hacking into the camera feed for interview room 2XB, Darcy and the DedSec operative accompanying her witnessed Lucas strapped to a chair and connected to a machine, while Graham paced in and out of camera view, talking about how his team was attempting to breach the tomb. Lucas died from his injuries on camera, sending Darcy into a rage, but Bagley warned that security had been notified about them and it was better to make themselves scarce.[3]
They went to the tomb's location at the Buckingham Palace grounds, where a great number of agents were scouring the place. The DedSec operative neutralised the security team guarding the tomb and scrambled the security system to buy Darcy more time to enter the tomb. She entered the tunnels and made her way to the tomb proper, finding also an entrance to an Isu vault. There, she found an Assassin outfit which she put on just in time to overhear voices coming from the tomb.[4]
Westerly was yelling at his Templar entourage to find Darcy and kill her on sight. Darcy dealt with the guards, found Westerly and assassinated him with her Hidden Blade. Though her brother's killer was dead and the tomb safe, Darcy decided remain fighting the Templars in London,[4] joining DedSec to do so.[5]
Behind the scenes
Darcy is featured as a playable operative in the Season Pass of Watch Dogs: Legion, a game also developed by Ubisoft. Despite the crossover, Darcy is purely "fan service" and is thus not considered canon within the Assassin's Creed series according to Watch Dogs: Legion Live Producer Lathieeshe Thillainathan.[7][8]
Scriptwriter Jared Schincariol, who also worked on Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, describes Darcy as a fun character with "earnest pluck and sarcastic bite". As a descendant of Jacob and Evie Frye, the main protagonists of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, Darcy is aware of the big legacy she is striving to live up to. Schincariol states that while Darcy is considered "very much her own person with her own story", Darcy and her missions are "a sort of love letter to Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate".[6]
Darcy is voiced by English actress Hatty Preston.[6]
