Danae was a girl living in Sparta in Lakonia, Greece during the 5th century BCE. Daughter of Damia and sister of Kristos, Danae had teamed up with her brother to cause trouble enough for even Xanthe, the magistrate of Pitana, to hear.

During the Peloponnesian War Damia asked the misthios Kassandra's help with her children. Tasked with telling the story of the legendary hero Perseus, Kassandra did as asked, impressing both children as well as their friends and Damia.[1]
