The Cú Chulainn Shield was a heavy shield believed to have been owned by the Irish mythological hero Cú Chulainn. It was buried at Uí Néill's Rest alongside Niall of the Nine Hostages, who was descended for Chulainn's foster-son Lugaid Riab nDerg.
During her travels, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan retrieved this shield from its resting place after being told of its existence by Flann Sinna.[1]

Behind the scenes
The Cú Chulainn Shield's design is based on the Battersea Shield found in the River Thames, London in 1857.
The shield's description is a reference to the creation of Cú Chulainn's shield Dubán in the Ulster Cycle.
