Aetius (died 431 BCE) was an Athenian general and one of the top commanders based in Boeotia, Greece, during the Peloponnesian War.
In 431 BCE, the Spartans learned via mercenary spies that he was in Boeotia to stop the Spartan advance.[1] Some time after, Aetius was assassinated by a mercenary before he could drive the Spartan forces from the region and avenge both Generals Eugenius and Thaddeus.[2]
