The Crimson Rose

Sir Reginald, better known as the Crimson Rose, was a member of the British Rite of the Templar Order, living in Paris, during the French Revolution. He resided at the Hôtel Fieubet in the Marais district.

The Reign of Terror saw many of the Crimson Rose's compatriots sent to the guillotine, which he endeavored against, saving them through his secret organization, the Crimson League. Rumors of his success spread soon after, causing a group of insurgents to launch an ambush against him. The Crimson Rose was saved from death by the Assassin Arno Dorian, though neither were aware of the other's allegiance at the time.

The Crimson Rose and Arno subsequently began working together to rescue Templar aristocrats such as the Comte de Choisy. However, the Chevalier d'Éon subsequently discovered the Crimson Rose's affiliations and notified Arno, who killed the Crimson League's members, before confronting their leader in a swordfight. The Crimson Rose battled Arno, claiming things were better before the Revolution, but was defeated and killed soon after.

Trivia

  • The Crimson Rose is based on the titular character of The Scarlet Pimpernel, a play and novel set during the French Revolution. This character in turn is based on various historical aristocrats who attempted to end the revolution, such as William Wickham.
